Lyrics

7. Veteran’s Mountain
I have my medals from the war; hang them by the door / So people coming in can see / Though the war is over and gone, they help me to hang on / And medals, these days, are back in style

I tell about the time my life was on the line / Everyone likes to gather ‘round / It was fighting for the Mother Land but, on the other hand / The stories never seemed quite right

Chorus: I climb these hills through grass and trees, wade the stream through fallen leaves / Walk the dusty trails down by the road / Oh Lord, keep this mountain safe; it’s a special, peaceful place / Away from all the wars that fill my mind / And I wish for everyone to feel this good and have such fun / In a special place that feels like a mountain home.

I’m still fighting this war that ended long before / Trying to get my head back on right / I’ve got shrapnel in my bones, they let me carry home / Left a hero’s limp to show Chorus

Friends ask about the years I spent, if I’m bitter that I went / Now I just brag and walk the land / I am just who I am, I learned in Vietnam / That wars hurt people and the land Chorus
