Lyrics

8. GUITARS AND GAVELS
She was a judge with her gavel for crimes and misdemeanors,
And sometimes the briefly insane.
But she’d saddle-up and ride like all dreamers,
Hanging on to an Appaloosa mane.

He was a fast one, guitar, mandolin,
The five-string leader of the band.
He played songs that grip the joys of sin,
Let you feel your dreams again.

Chorus:
Guitars and gavels never mix,
One runs wild what the other is trying to fix.
But guitars lift you up and chase the blues,
And gavels tell the horses, run true.

The judge tapped her gavel, love has time to play.
The leader strummed his guitar, find a joyful tune each day.
Oh, love is a bridge with a view,
Over mountains to a dream come true.

(Chorus)

Guitars and gavels in the glow of the moon,
Find beauty and harmony in a tune.
Now there’s romance and a guitar-pickin’ truelove,
In the moonlight with her honor, the judge.

(Chorus)
